APC Membership

The Association for Progressive Communications (APC) is an international network of civil society organisations dedicated to empowering and supporting groups and individuals working for peace, human rights, development and protection of the environment, through the strategic use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), including the Internet.

The APC was founded in 1990 by networks in networks in Sweden (NordNet), Canada (Web), Brazil (IBASE), Nicaragua (Nicarao), Australia (Pegasus), United States (IGC) and the England (GreenNet).

In 1997, APC membership passed from Pegasus Networks to c2o. c2o sits on APC Council providing two representatives to assist APC in its development, project work and decision-making processes. As an APC Member, we provide access to some of APC's resources and services, in particular its newsgroups and Rapid Response Network.

Where possible, we provide technical assistance, consultancy and representatives to various APC initiatives, both via remote participation and abroad.
